Wondering about the clear boxes....any ideas of where you can purchase these?
Regards,
Naty
i think duff did a bunch of these on Ace of Cakes a few weeks ago too. it was a special order.
they are really cute.
I think Duff (Ace of Cakes) did cookie towers similar to these in one of his shows. Cute idea and so simple.
Those are really cute! As for the plastic boxes, have you looked at papermart.com? They have EVERYTHING!
i think duff...
Ha! Great minds think alike! - and we even posted at the same exact time!
I am making 75 of those for my daughters wedding in Nov. I got the boxes at sugarcraft.

There are a few posts on this, if you want to search the cookie forum for Martha Stewart (that's what I did). www.papermart.com seems to have the best prices on the boxes that I've found.
These are really neat! I don't think I've ever seen anything like this before. Thanks for sharing.
Just a word of warning - I practiced making these a few weeks ago and I guess my dough was not chilled enough before I baked the cookies and when I took them out of the oven some of them spread and were uneven so my little cake looked very lop-sided.

Sherry, what size boxes did you get?
Thanks,
Naty
The ones that Duff made did not look as "perfect" as the Martha ones do. I didn't think they looked very good. (just my personal opinion here) My daughter even made the comment - "why would anyone want something that looked like that for their wedding??" (when she saw how they looked put together on his show)
Not knocking Duff - I love his show!
I just made 300 of these. To make these look as uniform as possible, use a shortbread recipe (Toba Garett's is great - no need to refrigerate), then cut them with the same cutter when they are warm as soon as you take them out of the oven. This makes them exactly the size you planned.
those are cute! i'd love to do some of those for my friend's wedding but i'm not charging her for anything so i think that would be a bit on the pricey side.

Naty...I got the Apple All-Clear 3-5/8X3-5/8x4-1/4 inch boxes.
They are just the right size. With shipping they average a little over a $1 each.
Sherry
AMW - that is an EXCELLENT way to get them all uniform. I think that is what looked odd for the ones Duff made......there seemed to be so many off kilter.

Thank you for posting the info about the boxes you used.....I just searched and searched on papermart.com and could not find that size/description clear box. I requested a catalog. If you can find it on the site, can you post the url?
Thanks so much!

I got my boxes from www.sugarcraft.com

Thank you, Sherry....my mistake! I live close to Sugarcraft so I'll have to make a trip to see them!
I don't recommend Martha's Sugar Cookie recipe. It spreads way too much. Just look at the ratios of sugar butter and flour and compare them to like the no fail or tobas and you'll see what i mean.
What a great idea these are. I definitely am gonna have to make someof these up to put in my portfolio!
Has anyone tried icing w/ b uttercream? Would that be too messy? I'm also wondering if you could cover them w/ like a fondant glaze or w/ melted candy - to make it look more "cake" like..... How much would you charge for these things anyway? I think they're cute but I wouldn't have done them for my wedding - I figure they're pretty expensive for your wedding favors..... but some people do spend a lot of money on favors so maybe..... would you do them in replacement of cake or as an addition to the cake b/c it's a favor to take home?
Also is Toba's shortbread cookie recipe in the recipes section here? What other cookie flavors/ recipes would you recommend for this type of cookie?
so what size clear boxes do you get??? I was confused when looking at the papermart site. You would need like a cube box wide enough...Any one order these and remember what size??

Here's a link the the boxes @ Papermart. The 4"x4"x4" ones should work. They also have them at US Box, but they are more expensive- but you can buy them in whatever quantity you want.
