I won't be able to go this year due to having a regular job and no vacation time built yet.

My friend, Janette Pfertner will be going and is also going to be a vendor. She will be selling her fantastic cake decorating book, my cookbook, and orders for the DVDs that toomuchcake and I are making for her sculpted animal cakes and for my heart shaped bouquet of flowers.

I wish I could go. I enjoy getting to see all of my friends and making new ones. Things just don't always work out the way we would like though.

Have fun everyone that is attending!! icon_biggrin.gif

Those taking the Butterfly Magic class and the Color Layering/Hibiscus would you snag me a hand out and take some good notes? icon_wink.gif I want to do these but have opted not to so I can do some things with my family as well. The challenge of juggling both.

Also is there anything that was decided on how to identify each other? I thought I read something about mardi gras beads but wasn't sure if it was decided on.

I'll be online sometime before 4 tomorrow then I'll be on the road heading that way. Yea!!

See ya'll soon!!

I just talked to Janette and she said she would be in booth #611. She wasn't positive because she didn't have the paper work in front of her and was heading out the door to go to convention.

She said she would be in the first row after turning right at the entrance. You can't miss her, she has red hair and is very vivacious.

You'll love her and her book! She is also going to have some brand new past editions of the Wilton Year Book for sale. I don't know what years, but I know some of them can really be interesting.

If you want to meet for dinner and drinks Spaghetti Works in the Old Market is a good place. Reasonable prices, good food and casual, relaxed atmosphere and it's not far from the Hilton.

ACK!!! I feel so stupid - I didn't think about it at all - will vendors not take debit/credit cards for payment? I don't have Traveler's checks and I leave tomorrow before the banks even open! What was I thinking??? What can I do now?

I think everybody takes credit/debit now...and you can always check with a bank when you get there maybe even one of you bank branches or ATM it ... I'm so anxious to hear all about it all when you all get back, safe trips to all, Tina

I heard a lot of vendors are cash only. I hate carrying cash around. If you have a debit card, bring it. I'm sure there will be an ATM close by. I'm hitting one before I drive up. If you have a large bank, like Wells Fargo, they are up here too that you could go to once you get here.

The last two convention I have been to most vendors took debit/credit cards.

I don't like walking with cash and I had no problems.

There is a First National Bank downtown and they have a ATM. There may even be one at the Qwest Center or the Hilton but I'm not sure.

Well since Tina replied here - I'll go too!!

It was great meeting so many CC people. I had a blast at the convention. I wish I had taken more of the hands-on classes. I also met people from my state ICES group that I hadn't been able to hook up with before. And I hung out with some people from Conneticut - all in all, it was great fun. I ran everywhere though - up to my room, to food, through the vendors, to the classes..... I better not have gained a pound even though I ate cake everyday! I did so much running and carrying heavy things! And I still filled a whole suitcase with stuff that I bought!!!!

By the way - my bag was "inspected" as I got a little piece of paper in it - I'm sure it was the "make your own molds" stuff - it does look like bomb stuff! Of course it's not but someone else was telling me they had it shipped b/c they were worried TSA might take it out of their bag at the airport. They left mine though - guess they figured out it wasn't a bomb thank goodness.

I still have a wishlist of stuff that I didn't get though - an edible image printer, airbrush, agbay, and topsy turvy pans - I'd love to know people's opinions on those types of products.

Everyone was so nice and wonderful. Maisie Parrish was so cute and Colette was so shy and nervous it seemed - it was funny - but she was fun, and then Norm Davis is just a hoot! And Dominick that I can't remember his last name - he does the make your own molds stuff - he was so funny!!! It was a lot of fun. More CCers need to go next time! It's in Disneyworld - I hope I can go! Start saving now!

I really enjoyed the convention as well. There is just so much to do and you do feel like you are running there and there and back up there. Plus with everythign spread out it makes it harder. But that's pretty much the same at every convention with the way the buildings are set up.

And then there is the shopping and wanting and wishing! I took a shopping list and probably didn't get half of what I thought I wanted and still came out with tons of things. Going to have to get back on track of organizing all my cake stuff.

It is fun to meet people from online and see people again that you met at past conventions. Plus when you have 'friends' there it helps make what little down time you have more fun. icon_smile.gif

I'm skipping the convention next year. I really think with the area it will be it it wouldn't be affordable for me. Plus I have a free Nic Lodge class certificate that I need to use up next year. So I'm going to do that, then save for the convention in 2009.

For anyone interested in future conventionts, you can visit ices.org. The online registration for the 2008 convention in Orlando, Fl should be up on March 1. In 2009 the convention will be in St. Charles, Il, which is near Chicago. And 2010 it will be in San Diego, Ca. icon_smile.gif So if 2008 isn't going to work for you, then you can always start saving for one of the other ones. HeHe.

Now I can use a vacation after my 'vacation'. icon_lol.gif

This was the annual ICES convention. They do have LA chapter meetings & Days of Sharing. If you go to ICES.org you'll be pointed in the right direction. I'm not sure when the next state meeting or Day of Sharing is. If it's during the year I can't go because of work. They are usually on Mondays icon_sad.gif
