Here is my octopus cake, I was proud of this one as it is the first time I used rice RKT and my airbrush, I probably got a little carried away, but it sure was fun!

This is one of mine.  I am a bit tentative posting my cakes here, with all wonderful talent on this forum!  Everything but the handle bar is edible.

Lots of great pictures so far!! Great thread idea.  Here are a few 3D cakes I've done that turned out pretty well:

This was a cake for my son's 11th birthday. He was having a mad scientist party, and we decided this might be a good way to represent the theme. He's ordered a new pet to take over the world! WASC (which is his favorite), with a standard american buttercream. The box sides and top are modeling chocolate (first time working with it--pretty intriguing), and the tentacles are fondant. Packing peanuts are marshmallows, obviously. Images are on edible paper/edible ink. Thanks for looking!

The doghouse is made out of vanilla butter cake with eggnog-flavored buttercream, covered in fondant. Snoopy is RKT covered in fondant and Woodstock is gumpaste. All credit for the design goes to jenbakescakes. I'm still in the early stages of this hobby, and thus sincerely flattering others by imitation. ;)

This is my second attempt at a sculpted cake. I used the cake for 3D modeling recipes here on CakeCentral (vanilla for the Pokeball and chocolate for Pikachu), a mixture of homemade and Fondarific fondant, and a simplified swiss meringue buttercream.

Great thread. Took some time but I viewed all! They are all great. I have to say for those of you shy to post. Here is my first and this thread's worst! But my boy Loved it! I researched (cake body pattern/altered) and/or came up with it on my own. Note: up until this cake I'd only ever decorated w toys or marshmallow peeps. And I managed a buttercream ruffle and rose cake (all for my kids' birthdays). Not only my first ever attempt w 3d cake also first attempt w fondant. It supposed to be "Toothless" he has a bigger head. Honestly I think he looks like a scary brown mouse/rat. 😳 And the icing needed to set more to darken but used it all on toothless cupcakes. If I felt more accomplished or had time I think I might have tried circle fondants to cover? So enjoy a laugh and feel free to give suggestions if I ever attempt again. The hardest part was icing the cut pieces especially tail. Now that I know I woulda tried RKT. And while jaw is awkward it helped to allow blue flame candles - huge hit!
