Still 10 more minutes until the book is available here. DH and DS are at the Barnes and Noble to pick up the book (even though I have first-read privileges). They're so sweet.

I took a spill on our front steps the other day, breaking my foot, and after standing in line for 90 minutes to get the pre-order wrist band, I just couldn't stand any longer.

DS has threatened to take the book away if I haven't finished by Tuesday. He needn't worry. icon_smile.gif

Im finished and now officially in mourning that there will be no more books to look forward to. I can't wait for my friend or sisiter to finish it so we can discuss. I won't give anything away here, so don't worry, but if anyone finishes and wants to comment - feel free to PM me!!!

Oh, everyone's cakes, cookies, and pastries look absolutely amazing. thumbs_up.gif I am totally envious of the Hagrid cookie and slytherin locket! I mean... WOW! icon_eek.gif

but... there's always a but...

Nothing looks as good as Melvira's new avatar! WOOHOO!! icon_lol.gif

I'm reading the book now... up to Ch. 6 (just got the book this morning)... I have cupcakes in the oven so my entry is coming soon.

Happy Reading, Everyone!

We're in the process of reading too. We read three chapters together when the 2 year old was sleeping and have been rotating the book between the three of us after each chapter. After we have all read that one chapter, we talk about it... it's great family time, because you have someone to talk about the book who doesn't know any more than you do because we all left off at the same spot! So much fun! I think we'll have to do that with other books in the future too that might interest young and old alike!

O...M...G... that's all I'm saying.

Sad for those we lost... sad that it's all over... still trying to figure out how I feel about the ending. Won't say anything... not going to rain on anyones parade.

Ditto, Melvira. I'm still at a loss for words. Finished last night and just sat there going over it all again in my mind. Don't want to give anything away, either.

When we got our book, we got a poster that said "3,440 pages read, only 784 more to go!" That is a total of 4,224 pages - what an accomplishment for all of the kids who read every book!

They also gave out little red and gold graduation tassels with a charm of the last release date attached. Tt did seem like a graduation to be done with them all - happy to have read them all, but sad that it is now over for good.

Agreed. I received my book at noon yesterday, stopped reading only for a quick trip to the grocery store and to eat, (and to read a different book to my kids at bedtime) and I finished it at 3:00 this morning. I just couldn't stop...

Wow, wow, wow. I just have to wait for my dh to finish it now, so we can talk about it.

I'm already anxious to read it again. Am I nuts?

Oh, dear ... my addiction has been discovered!!! icon_redface.gificon_redface.gif
Hamburgers for lunch yesterday.... I'm reading HP7.
Pizza for dinner last night ..... I'm reading HP7.
Now DH has caught me out - I actually took time-out from HP7 to check out what's happening on CC icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif
He just walked away, shaking his head sadly.....

LOL! My kids were wondering what the snort of laughter was all about!

I'm going to start reading it to them tomorrow, but we'll read in the daytime to avoid having to sleep on some of the darker happenings. The good part is, I can read it again while dh is at work, and he can read it in the evening while I'm at work!

(BTW, love your avatar, Melvira, very hot indeed! Whoo!)

Here's the one I did for the book release. I took it to a local bookstore. They never even cut it!! I don't know whether to be miffed or flattered! It just seems a shame becuase it would have tasted so good!! Glad there are other ravenous HP and DR fans!! Hubby finished the book on Saturday, I'm just on chapter 6!!

Also, regarding the other HP cakes posted - I wish a had a fraction of the talent y'all do!!

It seems when you have a nice one like that, people are afraid to 'mess it up by' cutting them. It's how most of us were brought up.

I say 'let them enjoy looking at it for a while, then cut it yourself.' (That's what I do...)

Ok, here are the pics of my finished cake. I did the sorting hat last night and the fondant slipped down over night. The other 2 house shields are behind the front ones - you just can't see them in this pic.

Jules, I'm really, really, sorry, but it seems I am going to have to ban you from TOTM posts... you are making us all LOOK BAD!!! What is it with you?Just because you are incredibly talented, you feel you must rub our noses in it? Hahahaha!!! Seriously... that hat is awesome! And I agree that it looks even more realistic after the 'slipping' of the fondant! I think he was just getting comfortable! You GO with your bad self!! (I'm too jealous!)

Thanks for the lovely ego boost! It is sitting in my camp room and all of the 2 year olds keep asking "Cake? Eat cake?" I keep putting them off - don't want to cut it until everyone gets a chance to come take a peek!

Have to agree - I think it looks MORE like the hat when it collapsed! Maybe, like the real sorting hat it sorted someone and now has relaxed!

EXCELLENT work! I was way too afraid to try the hat - that takes a lot more talent and patience than my slytherin cake! Great job!

Jules, completely agree with everyone else about the hat. Totally cool. My husband suggested doing that instead and I said "NO WAY' that is too tricky! And your shields are AMAZING! I saw the close up photos and was floored!

I wanted to share something with you all HP Fans because I know you can share my DH's outrage! He was listening to one of his fav. talk radio shows today when much to his surprise the host TELLS THE END OF THE BOOK!! I won't do that to you here... but DH is so frustrated!

I knew you all would empathize with him! I was telling him about all your lovely things and am going to make him look at them soon!

I definitely empathize. My husband finished before I did and was very tight-lipped. I've purposely avoided any web news/blogs/etc for taht very purpose. How disappointing for him!

CALL AND COMPLAIN!! icon_mad.gif People who do that sort of thing do it because they have no joy in their lives and so they have to ruin it for everybody else! I'm so sorry for him. To wait so long and have it spoiled like that. Do those same people run to the Christmas tree and rip the presents open before the kids can get to them??!! WHY?? WHY?? OH THE HUMANITY!! icon_cry.gif Please give him a hug from us! icon_sad.gif

Might someone like to start one under General, perhaps?

Not under general but under Lounge...I'm surprised if tehre isn't one already!

Melissa

P.S. I was at a swim meet last night and I was getting so annoyed these two teen boys were taunting a third - shouting cross the pool while he was on the starting block about hints about the book. I overheard one spoiler, but since they were taunting their friend, I don't know if they were for real or not.. but still, they weren't thinking about anyone else reading either... Teenagers (not all, but in general) drive me CRAZY and even when I was a teen I felt that way!
