Mario Batali wears crocs. Nothing like a celebrity chef stamp of approval!

I have wondered why he was wearing those ugly things. icon_lol.gif now I know!

Do you know what chain store sells crocs??

I've seen crocs at lots of different stores: TJ Maxx, various shoe stores, and even some camping goods stores like REI. I'd suggest ordering from zappos.com, though. They have the best prices and ship really fast. Best of all, if you don't like them, you can send them back for a full refund, including the shipping fees!

Thanks for all of the advice! I usually wear running shoes but I still have sore feet at the end of the day. I still think it's kind of odd b/c I run 3 to 4 miles 4 or 5 times a week but I can't stand up and decorate a cake.

The girl that told me about Crocs said that nurses wear them because bacteria can't live on them. I guess that's the only con to buying the knock-offs.

That's true -- they remain bacteria free, which also means that they don't smell.

I just love this site. I did two cakes this weekend and my feet and back were killing me. I just spoke to a friend and told her that I was going to go on CC and find out what you all do, if you had that problem and voila, here is the thread.

Thanks for the input. I'll have to check out crocs.

My DH bought one of those thick rubber mats, like are used in restaurant kitchens, for me to stand on while working on cakes. The kind we have is 3'x3' (with holes every few inches, and divided into 3 rows of 3 1'x1' blocks) but we cut it into 3 strips, 1' wide x 3' long. I can scoot them to where I want them , like around my table, or in a row along my counter. They make a big difference in how tired my feet and legs are at the end of the day. Not very pretty, but very effective!

Good Luck! thumbs_up.gif

Oh my goodness! Go for the CROCS! I had never even heard of them until DH bought me a pair when I hurt my back (I am a nurse)! I now have 2 pairs (pink and khaki) and am looking at the light blue!! Sooo nice and highly recommended from someone who is on her feet no matter which job (nursing or cake decorating)~

wow this site is THE BEST!!! thumbs_up.gif

My Feet are ALWAYS hurting after I finish a cake, so I usually just go to sleep..lol

I stumbled upon this thread by accident, and Im so glad I did. The funny thing about it is, my boss started wearing those shoes (crocs). She recently broke her leg, and Just the other day we were commenting on her little colorful "clogs". She said they were comfortable, and I couldnt beleive how light weight they were. I always see the nurses @ my job wear them but... I had no idea that my fellow cake makers wore them for comfort!! icon_biggrin.gif

If this is your business and you are cranking out multiple cakes every week, I highly recommend getting one of these:

http://www.healthfitnessstore.com/medirub_foot.html

They are expensive but totally worth it. I can be working for 10 hours and sit down with the Medi-rub for 5 minutes and my feet feel brand new and ready to go back to work.

They may look silly on but you're feet will love you. As an added bonus they are rubberized so if you happen to drop a glob of BC or Royal on your foot (am I the only one that does that) you're ok

Too funny! Sometimes I wonder if anything I am wearing does NOT have BC or Royal in it by the time I am finished!

We recently remodeled and one of the most important things in the kitchen was comfort for my all day and all nighters - we went with a all hardwood floor. I usually wear by regular Birk sandles (that traditional old Fred Flinstone type).

My birthday is coming up - may have to request some chipping in from the sibs for a pair of crocs party.gifparty.gif

I have the 'other' crocs, called 'Nothinz' - got them at the Texas State Fair and love, love, love them. I also got wannabe's at Walmart for $7 - like them almost as much, especially for the money - plus they're bright lime green! The crocs and nothinz you can find online sometimes w/ free shipping and no tax.

Ugly but comfy - works for me!

I don't know anything about crocs but I do know about Birkenstocks. I live down the road from where they make them. A couple of years ago I bought 2 pair. Soon after that I had to have surgery on my foot. The doctor (German) said it was the shoes. He said everyone can not wear them. Just be careful....The surgery was not fun. thumbsdown.gif

I have both the Walmart kind and the ones from Payless. I love them they are the only shoes I can wear and shop all day without my feet killing me. I have like over 5 pair of them...lol. Hubby thinks they look ridiculous but I say go for comfort.
