I keep seeing what seems to be an easy recipe for Candy Clay, but I've never used it. What are the pro and cons of using that over a standard fondant (which I normally just buy and then color myself).
Thanks!
Candy clay tastes wonderful however if you have hot hands it will litterally melt in your hands. It hardens up nicely once you are done with it though. I make it to "play" with but my son (almost 9) can't do much with it because he has hot hands. I mix it with a bit of fondant to help him out.
Hope this helps
Debbie
Can I stick my hands in ice water or the freezer ?
That was the problem that I had when I was doing the marzipan animals a few years ago. The marzipan didn't hold up nearly as well as fondant, and melted much easier.
As far as working with it, how do they compare? I don't so much care about the taste, because I'm going to make them ahead of time anyway, so I doubt they'll be tasty. Thanks!
Icing your hands should work. If you can work with marzipan you can work with Candy clay.
