I have asked before, but I didn't get very specific answers..

i have a wedding cake this weekend and i have never used fresh flowers,
but from what i understand they have to be organic if you want to place them directly on the cake. if they are not organic, what do you put under them? wax paper? how do you keep from seeing it? Whole Foods has fresh organic flowers, can i go buy some of their roses and place them on the cake with no worries?

I NEED HELP!! icon_cry.gif

you can......as long as you are positive there were no pesticides and granted that the type of flower in and of itself is not poisonous.......I think it's nice to put the flowers in a pretty crystal bowl on top of the cake, but if that's not possible......wax paper certainly could work........even if they're organic you're not going to want to stick the flowers into the cake!! It can lend a flavor to the cake that may not be appealing.

If you need to insert the flower into the cake, you can use the Wilton flower picks, or even a straw. the flower sticks in the tube and doesn't touch the cake.
