Hi all,
I ususally don't post cakes in the forum but i think this one kind of deserves it. Took me long to make and i am proud of it.
My client wanted a cake that would have two friends walking on the beach road ( they do that every morning)
the other people are the usual crowd in our beach road... exept for the mermaid.
Thanks for looking feedback is very welcome. (i take critisim too, please)
I LOVE this cake. It is so beautiful. You should be so proud of yourself! Your detial work is amazing. I hope you charged an arm and a leg for this cake, it is worth every penny!
Wow! That's awesome! Your people are great and I'm loving the old guy with the chest hair and the a little bit of hair above his ears-he's so cute!!
SOOOOOOOOOO Cute! I love all the "little details" that you have.... I'm VERY impressed with your work! Great Job!
Oh my goodness, I can see why this cake took over your life It is amazing through. The detail is just beautiful... I bet they LOVED this cake! Good work!
What an adorable cake! The detail in every face is amazing--it really gives those guys personality. The outcome was definitely worth the effort!!
Great job!
ADORABLE!!!!! I loved all the details that others have mentioned and I'll add the wood texture on the bench with nails!!!! This client will be BOWLED OVER!!!
Brilliant. Well done they are soo cute and well made.
You should be so happy. Well done
This cake is amazing. You should be proud! I LOVE it...like everyone has said the detail is just ...OMG...Im at a lost for words!!!!! PERFECT!!!!!!
Thank you all so much! The client loved it too. I just hope she will get it to the party today witout breaking pieces off. i told her that i could deliver myself today but she was such a nice lady and didn't want to bother me on sunday. And this cake was a very last minute order, i almost turned it down because she called me on wednesday. But i am happy that i took it.
This always happens to me that one week i have nothing and next week i may get 4,5 cakes. I would have enjoyed making it much more if i hadn't had other cakes to do as well
I mentioned it when i posted it in the gallery that the fat lady is my favorite figure that i have made up to now. only thing that i planned to make for her and didn't were her flip flops on the bench. I just got tired and left it as that cake wasn't even the last one i had to make this week.
ps. and the guy with purple dotted shorts has had a heart operation
( there is a scar on his chest)
Thanks all again!
What a great job you did, I admire your accomplishments. Your cake is beautiful, and your little people are adorable. Bravo to you.
Oops, Liis,
I'm getting more absent minded everyday.Didn't read it was your work until just now! To me you have been talented forever and ever. I'm one of your fans as well as Lorraine's. Love your work!
Pure talent right there!! I love all the detail, especially the bench that the "fat" lady is sitting on top of! And the man with the cane. How did you get them to stand up. I made a farm cake and had to put toothpics in the little animals just to attach the heads! Good job!
Hi Liis!
You're cakes are beautiful! I'm a newbie and would only dream of becoming even a quarter as good as you someday. I , too, would like to know how you make the people stand up on the cake. Would you post instructions, please? Thanks.
Michelle
Your figure work is amazing! As is your attention to detail! I'm also wondering though, how you got the figures to stand up? Do tell
Kelly
Thanks,
i will trie very fast to explane and will make you a pictorial later this week
I did the legs first
added gumtex to fondant i also have a mexican moddeling paste in the freezer made into small balls. so when i need the fondant to dry very fast i add to it ittle gumtex and 1/3 of mexican modeling paste and 2/3 of fondant and knead it well.
made the legs and let them dry maybe for an hour. then made body and hands. You dont really need to add gumtex to the body. Then i left them overnight . it is very important to balance the body and the legs well before you start drying them. otherwise it will be impossible to add the head next day and the figure will fall over.
second day do the head and attach it to the body.
So that's it really. i know that if you have gum tragan...ch ( i don't know the spelling) then that would make ithe legs dry even faster than gumtex.
or if you want make the legs from real gumpaste would even better.
i used to put clingfilm on the plate and leave the figures to dry on it but just recently discovered that the best way is to use kitchen towel paper underneath the figures. they don't get stuck on it.
and also i just started using new fondant ( i used regal ice before and also ordered some satin ice for a while) and i am super happy with it it is french and made by patifrance... all i have to say is that it is excellent to work with figures and to cover cakes.
i promise guys i make you a stand up figure tutorial asap. i just cann't look at fondant today...but tommorrow i will be ok with it again
have a nice day all!!!
Liis
