Just wanted to say, this also works using just the one 10 inch by three inch deep layer torted with the 6 inch by three inch layer cut in quarters. When I first made this cake, I had to guess on how it was done and went with those dimensions and they work fine. Also tried it using the egg pan and cake for the head, forget it, haha. The vertical halves want to come apart at the seam, no matter what you do. Much easier with the wig head or an oval styrofoam. Experiment and learn, haha, that one ended up with half the egg head down flat on top.
You can use the pattern to cut the eyes out of grey fondant and use luster dust to highlight.
Your directions are great Lisa.

I made this cake for my great-nephew's birthday - let me tell you - you will be considered a hero for presenting this cake to some lucky little boy!! thumbs_up.gif
When we carried it in to the birthday party venue, I'm not lying, kids were following us around saying "WOW!" over and over! It was a great feeling! And it was very simple, thanks to the wonderful instructions!

One piece of advice though, ice it the night before and let it sit overnight to get really red. I was afraid mine was going to be pink until I saw it on the counter the next morning!

Well Lisa, your tutorial is step-by-step and really well done. And you know, most people feel better when they see something like that, that they can follow step by step. I remember the only picture I had was a picture from the movie and I sat there and counted out the web marks on the face and compared them to the original cake I had seen and realized the cake count wasn't correct. Yeppers, we can be anal.

I purchased one at a local Beauty Parlour supply store. You should also be able to find these anywhere where wigs are sold. If you cannot, you can instead use an oval or egg-shaped styrofoam form which are readily available at craft supply stores.
