I want to do something a little different for the cupcakes I am making for a party this weekend so that they are yummy and memorable. I was thinking of filling cupcake liners about 1/3 with butter flavored cake batter, placing a chocolate kiss in the center, and finishing with cake batter. I hope to get a soft chocolate center without the chocolate going into the cake - will this happen?

I was also thinking of piping stawberry filling in the baked cupcakes, but will it make the cupcakes come apart when the children remove the liners to eat them?

Also, I want the cupcakes to be super moist. I am going to use DH cake mix and maby add a box of vanilla pudding mix and an extra egg. Will this help?

I will probably do a practice dozen tonight before I do the actual batch for the party on Friday night, but I would kind of like to know what to expect. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks a bunch. icon_smile.gif

Unless the cupcakes are served hot, the hershey's kiss will not be soft. Adding a filling (after baking/cooling) of whipped ganache would be a better choice, or even chocolate buttercream

The doctored cake mixes make moist cupcakes. As does DH on it's own. Don't overbake them, remove them from the pans quickly to cool (or the papers get soggy). Once cooled, cover them to prevent drying out.

A filling, not overloaded, will generally NOT cause the cake to come apart when the papers are removed.

I always put choc/chip cookie dough in my batter then cook. Everybody loves it. It is quite tasty. I use yellow cake with the dough.

Another great idea would be to add a minuture peanut butter cup in the middle, I think that would taste great. Also, to get a moister cupcake, add buttermilk in place of the water and definately add a box of pudding.

What if you tried like a chocolate syrup??? Hot fudge sundae topping??? mmmmmmmm....how about the caramel topping yummy........you're going to need something that's already a liquid for it to remain that way if they're not served hot!

Go ahead put it in the batter, no need to put batter over the kiss as the cupcake will bake up over it. If you want the kiss to be warm at serving time, put the cooked cupcake in the microwave for about ten seconds. You could write on some parchment paper and stick the paper in the batter before baking so that they'll have a hershey kiss cupcake. Good luck

I acutally made some chocolate cupcakes w/ganache centers last night using bc supermoist cake mix and they came out awesome. You can pipe some filling in after baking, just use your piping bag and fill from the top as you'll be frosting the cupcake anyway so who would see the hole? They shouldn't break apart especially if you don't jam the piping bag all of the way to the bottom.

I am on a cupcake baking spree myself. I agree cookie dough inside yum, chocolate ganache in cupcake really yum. If you want to use kisses I would suggest using the kisses that has a filling, like the peanut butter or caramel. I also find that if you make a pound cakish cupcake, filling tend not to ooze as much. Also if you have time you should visit chockylit's blog. Currently she has a Somoa cupcake that is to DIE FOR it is so good!

Hope to see your creation.
