What was supposed to be the bottom of tennis shoes ended up being flip flops as I tried to use the small impression mat I bought in the clay section at Michaels but I just couldn't get it. The impression mat kept sticking and when I finally did get some pattern in the RBC, it eventually melded back where you couldn't really see it.
I even tried my fondant roller/cutter and that seemed to work a little better (see pink flip flops picture) but it just wasn't exactly what I had pictured.
Any tips / suggestions on what I should do next time? Would the textured rollers work better? Do some impression mats work better than others?
The easiest way to get RBC out of a mold, off an impression mat, etc, is to very lightly spray the mold, mat, with non-stick cooking spray, first.
Now let me tell you that I no longer work with it because it is too soft, and everything I have made, except for a penguin statue, turned to mush.
Perhaps someone out there can help both of us answer the softness question.

I use RBC on all my cookies and have used impression mats also. I didn't have any problems.....you may need to stiffen your icing up just a bit! If it's a little firmer it should take and hold the impression very well! I do not use RBC for modeling figures or anything....it's just too soft and stays soft.
I have used impression mats on RBC. I dust them with confectioner's sugar-quite liberally-so they won't stick.
Thanks for the tips I will give it another try and see what happens.
Any suggestions too for some of the best places to buy impression mats?
Thanks
