I have been asked to make 10 cupcake bouquets for a wedding in May. This will be my first wedding and I want to make a great impression. I have done 2 of these (pictures attached). One I did with a thin chocolate ganache over the cupcakes and then added leaves and smaller flowers. The second one I put a thin layer of green and then added leaves and one flower per cupcake. They want half white and half chocolate cupcakes. I was also thinking about making a small thin-looped bow to put on the center cupcake with their monogram on a stick coming out of it? The colors for this wedding are light spring yellows, purples and pinks. What do you think? Any help would be really appreciated! Thanks.

I think they are both very pretty but the second one stands out more for me! Great job - good luck with your wedding!

If I understand correctly, some cake will be white, some chocolate. If it were me, I would use green on the white cake and chocolate on the chocolate cake, so you can tell them apart easily. I actually like the smaller flowers that lets the cake show a bit. It makes the flowers stand out- just my opinion. The arrangements look very nice.

i agree with cakecre8tor or that one the first one looks good but seems a bit busy but the second one stands out maybe it's the color of the cups and the tuille ruffles. My vote is for the second one.

I like them both. Why not do both? They are very pretty, by the way. You did an excellent job!

I like the second - the flowers definitely stand out more. They're both gorgeous though.

I like the idea of doing the green on the white cupcakes and chocolate on the dark ones....helps distingusih which flavor the person is picking up.

Thanks everyone. I guess I felt the same way and prefered the smaller flowers also. I didn't want to put the chocolate glaze on the vanilla cupcakes so I wasn't sure what to do about that. I'm not sure if she wants both vanilla and chocolate in the same bouquet but would that look okay yet with both chocolate and green base icing all together? I was sort of hoping everyone would like the bigger flowers because they go a little faster and I'm nervous about how I'm going to get all the bouquets done in time. I really don't want to make the cupcakes too far in advance because I'm afraid they might dry out but I'll have to have some time to put these all together!

Thanks again for all your opinions! This place is the greatest!

I will vote for 2. but i think it mainly because the way you displayed them.

Could you make the flowers in Royal. Then you cuold make them way in advance and just bake and ice the cupcakes and place premade flowers on top. Might save you some time at the last minute.

BTW- I prefer the second bouquet it lok more wedding like to me. The other is pretty too, but the second looks very elegant.

You can also make the flowers in decorator icing, buttercream made with crisco and let them air dry. I make these and keep them for emergencies. They keep fine. Your flowers are beautiful. I vote for the second ones also. Very elegant.
