I purchased the FMM alphabet cutters many months ago. I couldn't wait to get them in and use them - however I am still having trouble with them. I'm hoping someone might be able to help me out with that. I know that they are designed for use with gumpaste however I have seen and read about lots of people using them on fondant. When I use them on fondant I can't seem to get them fondant out of the cutter without massacuring them! I've tried rolling the fondant thick and thin and i've used corn starch and pwd sugar. Any suggestions?

Thanks
Deb

I use the FMM letter cutters and I don't have any problem with them. Sometimes I put a little gumpaste into the Fondant. When you press the cutter on the fondant, make sure you move it back and forth so it'll cut the letters with ease.

I'll have to try that I guess. I was hoping to be able to use it with just fondant.

Thanks!

Have you tried using a little crisco on the cutters? That seems to help me when I am using cutters of any type.

I spray some pam or crisco on the cutters and it pops right out. If you do not spray then you should try to let it sit and dry a little before trying to remove from the mold. That seems to work because it shrinks as it dries. I also make letters in multiples when I do this. This way I have them for other cakes when needed and I do not have to keep pulling things out.
