I'm trying to be a lady... icon_evil.gif

I tried for about 2 hours to make bc roses today.

The edges are all wrong for starters. I tried opening the tip, I tried adding corn syrup to the icing, I tried making it stiffer by adding ps, I tried making it thinner by adding water.

Any suggestions? I watched that video about how to make them and I still can't get it.

1st icing consistancy is very important
2 are you turning the nail or only moving the
you have to do 3 motions at a time.
turn the nail squeeze the bag and lift
I kinda think your icing may be a bit too stiff.

well, i think part of it is using green, they'll look better in a different color. as for the edges, maybe try making the roses "faster". i've found if i go too slow with a petal and don't squeeze hard enough (but not too hard) they fray more. i think it's hard to get rid of all the fraying. try adding piping gel or corn syrup again. icon_biggrin.gif just try another day when you aren't so frustrated

The roses started out pink but turned green with envy of a normal looking rose icon_cry.gif

Only kidding, I had some left over green and decided to practice with that.

I have days like that .... I agree ... try again another day when you are not so frustrated ... I also find that when I'm PMSing I'm clumsier and it's harder for me to do what I need to do

That's so funny about the cabbages! I was thinking the same thing as I was making them.

Isn't there a cabbage rose? Maybe I could pass them off as those????? icon_rolleyes.gif

i have been doing them for over 10 years and i still think i need more practice. roses are the one flower that seems easy to do, but doing it is a challenge that takes practice.
