Everyone: I have seen some of the most beautiful cakes ever and was wondering where did you learn how to make such cakes. I have taken all of the Wilton classes once in 1977 and again in 2004. The three classes don't teach any of the many cakes posted in the gallery. I live on the north end of Columbus, Ohio and there are no cake shops that teach any kind of classes. Yes, there are Michaels, Jo-Ann's, and Hobby Lobby but no shops that teach the kind of cakes I have seen. Please let me know where you have learned how to do the cakes I see posted. Thanks, Vicki0052.
I would like to take a class but I cant seem to squeez in the time. I have learned through alot of practice. I use the wilton yearbook for reference and this website for alot of advice and tutorials. My cakes aren't nearly as great as so many on here but with time, practice, and the love of decorating I'm sure I'll keep learning as will you.
Good luck
I think it's just practice! Plus, the support from the members here is incredible. Most people here are more than happy to answer any questions you may have about a particular cake!
I am self taught and started Cake Decorating in mid-December. I have a lot of room for improvement but I know that will come with time and practice. I've learned everything from books and Cake Central Members. You won't find better instructors any where!!!
