Which would you prefer to receive, and why? Hardcover or Softcover?
I found a couple of baking books I want to buy for a friend, but don't know if I should buy the hardcovers or softcovers, so I need your opinions.
Softcover-
I tend to thrash the pages of my cake books, theya re all covered in grease and frosting. At least the softcover are easier replaced.
Hi: I like hardcover books. I guess it's a thing from school. I like to keep my books nice and crisp. School books were always in good shape so didn't have to pay any book fines at the end of the year. Vicki 0052.
I prefer hardcover because I am so hard on books, and they lay flatter than softcover. I don't like creased covers or dogears, and my softcover books usually end up with those. To take it even further, though, I really prefer hardcover books with spiral binding, especially if they will be used in the kitchen. They are so handy and stay open with no trouble. Of course, the spiral binding seems to be easier to find with softcover books than hardcover, but that doesn't mean I don't look for them anyway.
I prefer Hard Cover books. They hold up better than soft cover books and look much better through all the wear and tear. Maybe they are cheaper but in my opinion they also look cheaper. I would say that if it is a book that is not going to be well used then soft cover is fine. But if you think she will love it enough to put it through some hard use then I would go with the Hard cover. Just MHO

Hardcover books are more money than the soft cover for the same thing!! I keep mine in my pantry so they don't get damaged!!
Although I prefer the durability of hardcover the softcover books are definitely more cost effective. Also I can put more on my shelf. If it's a really special book, I'll opt for hardcover though....
I prefer the hard cover because when they are on the counter or table they lay flatter the the soft cover. I think they look nicer too!
I like hardcover, I tend to be a little more careful with them and keep them away from messes. However, I am sometimes a little cheap so I usually buy softcover.
I like soft cover books SO mcuh better. In fact, I feel so strongly about it that I sometimes wiat until a book comes out in soft cover and if soft cover were to cost more, I would still get it. I guess it's just personal preference, no?
i prefer hard cover, but only buy it if it is a book i really like otherwise soft for me...cheaper...more money left for other things.
Soft cover for me. I want more For my $$$ so I chose soft cover so that I can have more books.
i love hard cover, because i use my cook books and baking books just as much for decoration in my kitchen/breakfast area. I like the way hard cover books look on my book shelves. of course, i have some soft cover books too, but i try to get mostly hard cover.
I would rather have hardcover - they seem to last longer, lay flatter and look better....
