Your info says that your birthday is Aug 25. I was saying that we have the same birthday, and then SquirrlleyCakes said that she hoped we had a good B-day. Thanks Squirrley. I did!

Heehee, well we are a confused bunch. So, in other words, he bought these books for no special reason? OOh, that man is scoring a lot of points today, we are impressed, haha!

Gosh kiddo, you have been through a lot! Sorry to hear that, but you have a good start now, on being cancer free! What a nasty cancer that is!
How sweet, that your friend and daughter did that, that is wonderful! What a lovely memory of both of them!
To use a tuna tin, well practically sterilize it, haha, we used to use soup cans too, but the only thing I have used these for was fruit cake with my mother always running out of cake tins because her recipe increased every year.
Well, most people line it with parchment although, we used to fully grease and flour the whole tin, then line only the bottom with brown paper and grease the paper. Personally I would go this way, but use parchment or waxed paper and not grease that. For the first try only fill about 1/2 way, you may be able to get away with 2/3 but it will depend on how much the batter rises. Time it for about the time a muffin or cupcake would take.
The only tins you need to steer clear of are the ones that look like there is some form of plastic or rubber on the inside. Can't think offhand of which ones comes like this, but there are a few, although the tuna tins are not like this.

That was really nice of him to do - since it was for no particular reason except that he knew you wanted cake books! I think the actual book is hilarious - sounds just like something my husband would do!
