Marshmallow Cake Ingredients 1/2 cup shortening1 1/2 cups white sugar1/2 cup milk2 cups all-purpose flour3 teaspoons baking powder4 egg whites1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar1/8 teaspoon salt1 teaspoon vanilla extract Instructions 1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease two 9 inch layer cake pans. 2 Cream the shortening, add the sugar gradually. 3 Sift the flour, baking powder, cream of tartar, and salt. Add the flour mixture alternately with the milk to the creamed mixture. 4 Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks are formed. Fold the beaten egg whites and the vanilla into the cake batter. Pour batter into the prepared pans. 5 Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 30 minutes.
