Golf Ball Cake
I made this cake for both my husband's and dad's birthday. They both golf so this was fun to make for them. I used the end of a glass candy thermometer to make the dimples on the ball. We had to drive about 50 miles to my parents' house and I thought for sure it would fall apart before we got there but it was OK (I did dowel it).
That's awfully cute! You did a great job.
Great cake! The dimples are really effective! Did you use a shaped pan or carve the ball?
Thanks! I used Wilton's sports ball pan for the ball. You bake it in two halves.
This cake is adorable! One question...did you use buttercream icing on the golf ball or is it fondant?
I used buttercream for the ball and the grass. But I made sure it was crusting buttercream so that I could let it crust and then make the dimples on the ball.
