Sponge Bob Square Pants

Sponge Bob Square Pants on Cake Central

This is a "character" cake I did for my friends son's birthday. I'm not a big fan of the star tip, so I filled it in with a larger round tip (size depended on the area I was filling) after outlining with a #2 or #3 (depending on what I was outlining). It was a lot of fun to make.

I bought a set of high quality artist's brushes (I used to be a "regular" artist as part of my pre-marriage pre-kids life) and I use those (what ever size I feel I need for the area) to smooth the frosting after I apply it with a #12 for the larger area's and smaller for the smaller areas. You do have to moisten the brush & clean freq. I used a #3 for the outline b/c I thought it needed more "definition". I probably could have used a #2 and been ok. I'm just not fond of the star tip look.
