Princess Painted

Princess Painted on Cake Central

The cake is covered in buttercream and the figure is hand painted in fondant with regular icing colors. Doing a cake this way, I can have customers who don't want to pay for a fondant cake but want the pretiness of it.

Looks great! would love to know how you did the painting and what did you go by for the cut outs of each princess? martina :D :D

Thank you for the comments. The transfer is made out with charcoal pencil. I make my own drawings. Sometimes when the customers bring me the invitations, I "enlarge" the figures myself.

OOOPPSS! I hit enter without finishing my explanation. The icing colors are thinned down with vodka or any other clear alcohol. I ususally start with the lightest colors to avoid bleeding. If you do have access to a copier it can be a lot easir and the procedure is to outline the figure with the charcoal pencil over a parchment paper or any other paper and turn it over to the rolled out piece of fondant trying not to move the figure to avoid to smear the drawing.

With small circular motion of your hand (as if you were applying wax to a very soft surface) go over the back of the design and TADDA! the design will be drawn to the fondant. Lift the transfered piece to a place mat or any other surface that will be easier to pick up and later on placed over the frosted cake. Cut the figure with a knife and then paint it. Thanks for looking!

The cake is beautiful, I love the detail of the Princesses. Any little girl would be lucky to have this cake. :P
