Beautiful job! Did you make the small roses on the top and center? Wish I could see them up closer, they're very dainty looking.

:D Thanks so much for all your kind comments! The little rose buds are just silk but I made the dome on top by using a ball of fondant and putting the rose buds inside (I totally didn't have time to run to the craft store). I'm sure I'll get more pictures tomorrow. If I get a good close up I'll post it! Thanks again!!!

I love your cake! I am going to try to make a cake similar to yours in Oct. Any tips on what you did here would be most helpful. I really need a good recipe for royal icing that is just right for roses. I cant seem to get the right consistancy. I did practice with buttercream and they turned out ok. What do you think about royal verses buttercream roses?

You know, I don't enjoy making royal icing since I have to sterelize everything and then I have to work quick before it dries, BUT I like the look and durability or royal icing so much better. It was so nice to have a couple hundred roses already ready to put on the cake rather than to sit there for however long and make bc roses. I think I made the ri roses off and on for a few weeks! I hope your cake turns out well! Can't wait to see photos!
