I made this cake for my oldest son's 11th birthday. He had a toy scorpion that I used for inspiration. The cake is chocolate with vanilla bean buttercream filling and ganache. The head is rounded out with rkt and the cake is covered in fondant and modeling chocolate. My wonderful husband cut the board for me and installed the copper pipe for the stinger. He also cut and shaped copper wire for the legs, which I then covered in modeling chocolate. The sand is a mixture of graham cracker crumbs and brown sugar.
