Barb Bubbles 1

Barb Bubbles 1 on Cake Central

This was a rush job. I started baking the 10" coconut and 8" chocolate on Saturday morning at 10:30. Made the cakes, the icing, the MMF, the royal icing dots and then after the dots dried I hastily painted them with violet luster dust. The cake wasn't settled well since it was freshly baked but I got it to my mom's house an hour away and then put it together. This was for my sister. She's getting married in Gatlinburg this week sometime! Dohhh!

fytar my pal, you go girl...this is beautiful...love the colors. This doesn't look like a rush job...can't imagine it being any prettier if you worked all day. Hope you don't mind if I borrow your dot coloring idea sometime.lol

forgot to mention that I know the bead border is ugly but I was in a hurry because I was stuck in the house putting all of the cake together while everyone else sat outside eating and having fun!!

I like this cake and I love purple. Royal icing dots, huh? Did you make them first and them place them on the cake?

Kelleygirl, yes, I made the dots the night before with some leftover royal I had in a bag already. It was thinned down enough that it pooled without any peaks in it thus making them appear smooth. It was painstaking getting them on the cake without leaving purple fingerprints next to them. I attached them with BC. It was right before we ate it so it didn't have time to break down the royal icing.

Great job. If u can do such a great job in such a short period of time, u must be an awesome cake decorator! I love the seperator. What did u use?

kakabekabunny, that is the new Wilton seperator. It comes with a 10" and 8" smooth-sided seperator plate and the bowl (which is plastic btw). My idea was to put pretty flowers in it but ran out of time so I improvised with purple balloon ribbon that I curled with scissors and a little white tissue paper. Like I said, rush job. I was finished baking, making the icing, putting the layers together, icing them, covering them in mmf and on the road within 4 hours.
