This is the first novelty cake I have made for someone other than my own children. It was for my friend's daughter, who was "Queen of the Fairies" at our local childrens Gala Day. I stayed up literally all night making this, I had no idea these cakes were so time consuming! It was designed to tie in with the decorated house front, which was a fairy castle, with trees in rows in front, so I made some cupcakes to represent this. I had so many positive comments about this cake, everyone loved it, and it has definitely given me "the bug" for cake decorating. Hopefully a lifelong fulfilling hobby! Madeira cake with BC filling and fondant covering. The only non edible part were the fairies flying on wires above it.
