I made this cake for my sister-in-law's 40th birthday party as she was born in 1970. It was inspired by cakekim, though she did it better so if you like it and would like to use the idea I recommend checking out hers. When I went to move the fondant onto the cake, I forgot to put confectioners sugar on it so it wouldn't stick to itself and I ended up having to roll it out again which messed up the tie-dye effect a bit. It was chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting then marbled fondant over that. Disco ball is made out of fondant with a plastic ball underneath. I tried to do out of solid fondant but the dowel kept wanting to slowly come up through it. Thanks for the idea cakekim, it was a big hit!
