My daughter's 3rd birthday party was all about butterflies, flowers, and fairies so I made a cake to match. It was my first time working with gumpaste, but I really enjoyed it. Everything on the cake was edible except for the fairy, which was a figurine. The top tier was a gluten free casein free choclate cake (my daughter has food intolerences) and the bottom tier was a classic yellow cake. Both were frosted with a casien free "butter cream" icing and then covered with fondant. Surprising the top tier was everyone's favorite...you really couldn't tell it was made without dairy or wheat.
