I used the prepackaged Wilton Fondant. Ooh, that tastes awful! But, with the buttercream frosting layer below the guests were still very pleased with the taste of the cake. I used a pasta machine to flatten the pieces for the ribbon and the noodle setting for the scroll work pieces.
You did a wonderful job on it!! I agree, that fondant does taste bad. I wish I could find a really good tasting recipe for rolled fondant that easy to use and smooths as well as this one does!

FYI, you can flavor the fondant with vanilla or peppermint or the other candy flavorings. You just knead it in.
