Saw a cake like this from another site done by someone named "Wild Cakes" and I had to try it. What I differently is that I extended the "sky" to the cake board and I added clouds to it as well as the banner. The "sky" is airbrushed with silver dragees added and the "earth" is colored fondant and hand drawn continents (had to look at a map on my son's cell phone). I am a critique group member.
Oh, I forgot to add that this cake was done for a friend who we always say that nothing is impossible for him and the world is his stage. The little man is a replica of our friend.

I would have used green ribbon as there isn't any yellow in your design, the banner is a nice touch. Then this is just me, and the design has been down before, but this whole concept is upside down - right? Shouldn't it be earth, then clouds and then sky ontop? But this is just me...because people get the idea-LOL.
To tiptop: I guess you can say the illusion is the eart out in space. Oh yeah, my ribbon is green, at least it was when I put it on the board!! :lol: :oops:

I love this cake. Great job on the man--I wish the picture was lighter so I can appreciate everything more. I can't find anything I would change.

Critique subgroup member: How creative is this??? The airbrushed blue is fantastic and the addition of the dragees for stars is genius. Other than what looks like a bit of water got on the earth, this is perfect.
critique subgroup member: well done! i love the detail and the deep blue color of space! the only thing i noticed was the little pucker in the earth to the right of south america and the little man is a little hard to see because he is dark on the dark background. i live it, i think it's beautiful!
