Golden Wedding Cake
This is a heavy fruit cake, with marzipan, and fondant. The inspiration was a cake from Kerry Vincent's "Romantic Wedding Cakes". But, as this was a Golden Wedding, I adapted it a bit, to introduce the gold. I used realistic looking fondant roses too, instead of the "satin roses". It was hard work but so rewarding! I was very pleased with it.
Stunning!
It was worth all the hard work. It's gorgeous!
Just beautiful!! You did a wonderful job on it!!
Kerry Vincent has the similar design in her Romantic Wedding Cakes book.. very pretty though.. very elegant.
Beautiful!! I have not seen the Kerry Vincent version to which you have given credit, but I just love yours.

outstanding! Love it
Thank you all! It was hard work, but worth it... just to see the look on the Bride's face! And the Groom... he was so interested in the mechanics of it... How I put it together, and how it was stabilised.
Yes! It is beautiful cake.
Wow this is beautiful! What a LOT of cake!
Absolutely Beautiful! Great job.
This cake is breath taking. May I ask you why you put marzipan on first and then fondant? Was that a request of the bride or was it for another reason?
leepat, the bride is from Mumbai, where traditionally, wedding cakes (for Catholic/Christian weddings) are heavy fruit, covered with marzipan and then royal icing. But all of us like the taste of homemade fondant more. Besides, it is much easier to cut the cake. Royal dries rock-hard! Thank you all for the compliments on my cake.
This is amazing! Simply breathtaking. Very good job. Three thumbs up for you! ;-D ;-D ;-D
Wow, Stunning! May I ask what sizes the tiers are? Was that all fruitcake? It is most impressive.
