This is an over the hill birthday cake I did for a customer for her sister. She gave me freedom to do whatever, but really wanted to hit home the over the hill idea. I made the tombstone out of foamboard and carved the edges to give it a stone look and then painted with some black, gray and white. I printed the letters off of my printer and cut them out. I sprayed an adhesive on the tombstone to attach the letters and glued lollipop sticks to the back. I used crumbled up brownies for the "dirt". I made my roses red, so that it wouldn't look too goth and hand piped the iron fence around the edge! TFL!
