Nutcracker With Mixed Nut Bowl

critique subgroup member: all fondant nutcracker, bowl is a white cake covered in mmf with fondant mixed nuts and fondant bow. Cakes in the back are red velvet covered in BC with little trees along the borders. I can't even begin to explain the mistakes made during the 3:30 a.m. frenzy to finish- trees hid a multitude of sins to be able to pull it off. :) My family loved it though...Merry Christmas and TFL!! :)

Critique subgroup member: Wow lots of work here and your nutcracker looks fantastic in this scenescape! To get randon nuts as stated by others, "which BTW is the hardest thing in the world to do", just take some nuts and spill them onto a plate similar in size and then replicate onto the cake.

Critique Group Member: I thought the nuts were real 8O . Great job!!! Your nutcracker turned out awesome. I personally think it would have looked great with just the nutcracker and the bowl unless you were needing that much cake.

Critique Group Member: WOOOOOOOOOOOW! I can't force myself to criticize anything...except, if I force myself, to say the nuts could be less arranged but OH MY GOD this is a work of art. Pleeeeease tell me how you did the nutcracker!!! It is absolutely amazing!

critique group member: I really like this idea, and you mixed nuts look so real! Everything looks fantastic to me.

critique subgroup member: very pretty cake, and such detail. the bowl looks so real! I think one suggestion might be for the nuts to be in the bowl more hodge podge and not so percise and patterned. In a real bowl of mixed nuts, they would be all mixed up and not all the walnuts on the edge. I also think the ribbon around the bowl should have been a closer size to the bow. But man that nutcracker is SWEET!

Critique group member: Wow I can't believe those are fondant! I aggree though that you should have placed the nuts more randomly and maybe piled them up higher, overall though fabulous cake! :D

critique group member: FONDANT NUTS...Really? They look so real! Fantastic. I love the mabled effect on you MMF bowl. Your bow is wonderful. Did you spray paint the back cakes? I like their inconsistent coloring. I do not know what those adorable trees are hiding, but they make great band-aids! Nice nice cake. :)

lol- I didn't spray them- I just didn't mix the coloring all the way on the icing. It was an accident, but one that worked in my favor. ;)

Critique group member. I am floored. The nuts looks real I had to look twice. I love how this all came together. I like the trees even though you had some trouble with them. I am not sure about blue on the back cake, to my eye it seems a bit out of place. My only other suggestions to skip the writing on the board, i think the cakes are gorgeous enough without it.

critique group member. i dont have much to say other than WOW. He is amazing. He looks like he might be leaning a little but it might be the angle of the pic.

on

critique group member:No tips or advice from me on this one! He's looks great! As was already mentioned, there appears to be a slight lean, but could just be the picture. Can't wait to see the cake...

on

critique group member: My jaw dropped when I saw him, he looks real. You did a fantastic job and I love the details on his jacket

Critique group member: Oh good - now I get to see what you did with that fantastic nutcracker! Echoing other comments - love your nuts and the entire set up. Only critique would be to have left off the writing - I think its perfect without the word 'Christmas.'
