Asking for a friend..


Here's her question. 


"Do i need a business license if there's a cottage food law? MN passed theirs not too long ago..."



I'm not sure the exact answer to this as I live in another state.

I'm rather sure you will but check with your town, city, county to know for sure.  You are talking two different thing here.   Just because the state/county/city allows you to work from home does not mean you don't have to follow other rules, laws etc.......

From my quick scan, it looks like she would need to register with the ag department and have a food safety certification; business licenses requirements vary from county to county.  Also make sure about collecting sales tax or not.
