I've got a cake to make for this weekend, and the person it's for wants it modeled off this cake here. I've been trying a few different methods for the waves, using my own homemade hard candy, but so far nothing has come out like I'd like it to. Any tips on how to achieve those waves?

I don't think I'm going to be much help but I would think it's a rather simple method of spreading hot/melted hard candy into 'puddles' on foil.

put your aluminum foil over an upturned cup or muffin tin so you can control the flow -- using candies is a great way to go -- it's already colored/cooked
