They look like clematis flowers to me.

They are clematis.  They are a creeping vine flower.  I used to have them covering my trellis....until I had dogs...  :(

Yep those are clematis and they look real - not icing.  I have made them in gumpaste but it's been yrs ago and don't remember now just how.

They definitely look real but can be made in gum paste.  There is a cutter for them here:

I have not made them but I have found with some of the other flowers I have made that if you make the gum paste thinner using a ball tool that the flower becomes more life-like (real).  Would love to see your finished flowers if you choose to do them in gumpaste.
