I am baking a two layer 9x13 for a ginormous birthday party this weekend. One layer needs to be chocolate and the other vanilla. I was planning on using one of the WASC versions for this cake, and I was wondering if you just use half a recipe (with just one cake mix) for this size pan? Also how long do you bake it? I haven't baked a 9x13 in a while so I appreciate your help.

One cake mix will be plenty for a 9" x 13". I bake them at 325 for a little bit longer. I can't tell you the length of time since I bake by smell rather than time.

Thanks. I'm a sniffer baker too, but it's always good to have a guideline. Especially with the chocolate I've noticed those tend to sink on me. So I am paranoid. Thanks again!

Hi there,
Yes, I would half it. I bake mine at 325 for 40 min. and then sometimes 10 minutes longer,,,,,,depends on your oven. I also put a greased flower nail in the middle of mine.
