How do you keep your colors dark when adding gum paste to colored fondant?
I need to make some dark brown cake toppers/words that stand up, but when I add white gum paste to the colored fondant it lightens it up a lot. How do I keep my colors dark & still be able to have a cake topper that will harden enough to stand up on it's own?

I've added gum paste to colored fondant and if it lightens it too much, just add a little gel color to get it back to the original intensity. In this case, add some brown coloring.

Rather than add white gum paste to the fondant, I add tylose, cmc, or gum tex powder to it. The color doesn't change at all.
