How To Attach Cakeballs To A Cake?

I have to make a tier cake with cakeballs attached on the sides of the cake. I have never done that before. How do I do that?

How about making the cakeballs on short lollipop sticks, and insert them one by one?

The lollipop stick might be too heavy, depending on how many you have to insert....Try long tooth picks, thats what I used in this cake.
