Because I am the baker/decorator of my family I always insist on making my own birthday cakes (I really don't trust anyone else to do it ) . This year though, I have no idea what to do and my birthday is fast approaching. I was thinking about something with stars or flowers but I have not done many flowers so it has to be something easy. I was also thinking about coloring my MMF different shades of pink to cover the cake in but my mind is just blank. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
THANKS!!!
There must be a technique or desgin you have been dying to try.
Something new, so you test your skills; improve on something.
Loopy bow? Stripes and dots? Gift pkg? Brushed emboridery? Cornelli lace?
Flowers: Calla's probably one of the easiest gp ones to make. Carnation?
In royal: dasies; snapdragons and apple blossoms.
From what you described, here is what I would do I were in your shoes.
I've had this one if my favs for a while now.

You could do the two-tone look with a two shades of pink and you just use simple blossom cutters to do the flowers.
Thank you so much for all the ideas. Dmo4ab I love the picture, thank you and I think those flowers will look good on the cake.
If you're going with different tone cakes, as dmo4ab showed, this is Aldoska's gallery. She was the one who started this stuff, and there are plenty of cakes in the two tones here. There's more, but here's a few:
