It's worth it if you have the patience to learn how to use it. There is a learning curve and a lot of trial and error. I used it for the bumble bee cake in my photos. It was used to cut the bee wings, letters, border and little black circle designs.
I love mine and I have heard of people getting them at Michaels for $50 - 100. If I could get another for $50, I would, just so I would have a spare. It's especially nice if you get the "Sure Cuts a Lot" software so you don't have to buy all those cartridges.
The mini is on sale for $99 at Joann's on Friday. It's also on sale online starting at 12:01 am. I had planned to go out and get one, but I'm in bed with another sinus infection, so I'll be getting mine online.
I was just looking at that deal. Is there a place that will do them cheaper? Wondering if I should get it. I believe that deal ends Friday at midnight. There's a coupon code for free shipping too..... EAD331.
I haven't seen a better deal. Do you mean tonight midnight or tomorrow midnight? I went on Joann's and i saw the min one. It just said $200. It did not say anything about sale. The big one is normally $400 and is on sale for $200. Anyone know why its saying that?
tonight midnight. Joann has lots of sale items throughout the weekend, different items on different days. the mini cake cricut is only on sale tomorrow (Friday). thanks for the free shipping code, since I can't get out tomorrow.
I consider mine to be a big expensive paperweight.
You want to sell it?
If you are not good with gizmos then you probably wont like it, I am a tinker around with electonica and computers etc, so I love mine after playing around and figuring the thing out, and once you do the things you can do are amazing.....especially with sure cuts alot software........

Do you know if there's a lot of free files out there online to get? Those cartridges are insanely priced.
If you get the Sure Cuts a Lot software, you can use regular graphics off the web. The software will trace around the image and create its own cut file. Sometimes I will have to clean up the graphics or recolor them a bit, but its really not that hard.
Alright thanks. What happens if i buddy someone?
What does it mean to "buddy someone"?
sure cuts a lots fine but you have to download inkscape to use it right and thats a free download.....easy peazy
Does anyone know if the cricut machines intended for paper and scrapbooking can be used for fondant sheets? If they can, is there an advantage to getting the cake machine over the regular machine (which is always cheaper on sale)?
I had the same question and found a video on youtube using the regular machine with gum paste, i'm not sure if works with fondant.
I've cut fondant with my regular cricut. I just moved over the rubber rings on the bar so it wouldn't make marks in the fondant, and I replaced the regular blade with the deep cut blade and housing. worked fairly well, but I think I need more practice.
You will need to get the deep cut housing and deep cut blade for the regular cricut to get it to work properly. And clean the blade between cuts.

I only know that the inkscape is what the guy who does the youtube thing on surecutsalot tells you to download this so you can save svg files that you need use with that program.......it works very easy
You don't need svg files with Make The Cut. Use images from the internet or scanned images just as they are.
