My husband is getting promoted and I want to do a chevron as the cake for his promotion party. There are two guns crossing in the middle....does anyone know how I could do that?

Thanks.

Congrats to your husband and to you for being a great wife. I made one of these recently and I used the good old fashioned color flow because I was stumped too. I made 6 of them but only needed the one. I'm sure others will have other ideas like fbct or a fondant cut out. It was just easier for me to do the colorflow thing.

It may seem the easy way out.....but I would do an edible image and pipe beautiful borders and scroll work to add you personal touch.

I'd also suggest a fbct.

Semper Fi! My husband is a Marine too. I have nothing to add to your question, but I just wanted to thank him and you for the service icon_lol.gif

Thanks to your husband too!

Well I had the hardest trouble getting the red...but I finally was able to get the red I want. Now tomorrow I am going to do the yellow strips and the guns. Still have not decided how yet.

I think I might try and cut them out of fondant.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will post a picture after I am done.

This is the link to my cake. I tried the buttercream transfer but it did not work out. The buttercream did not get hard. Maybe it was to thin....even thought it was not that thin.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks!

I think that it looks really good. I know that doing fbcts are difficult in the small details but it came out great!!!
