I am switching over to Sugarshacks buttercream icing recipe which uses a high ratio shortening. She suggests Sweetex however it is pretty pricey so wanted to know if anyone has used TBK (The Bakers Kitchen) High Ratio Icing Shortening? Or maybe both brands. TBK is much cheapier however I don't want to sacrifice the quality on a wedding cake. Thank you so much!!!!

I got duped into TBK brand, thinking it was Sweetex. Things didn't go so well, in part because I was using too much liquid. But since breaking into my big ol' 50 lb. block of Sweetex, smooth sailing and smooth icing...

Spend the buckage for Sweetex.

Take it from someone who has used Sweetex for over 45 years.......don't go cheap on your Hi Ratio......there is another brand, Alpine, that could be a fairly close second choice, but I'm not sure there's much difference in price.
