I hardly ever make 3D cakes and now have the task of making a skateboard that needs to be standing on its wheels. I was wondering what the best support system would be for this particular cake style. Please help.

You could do it with a board cut as the base and some sort of support underneath with cutouts for the wheels. I did one recently where I stacked up layers and then cut out the shape and angled it all the way around. I cut out spaces for the wheels to sit and then did the underneath and wheel areas in black.

I bought an inexpensive skateboard and built the cake right on top of it. It only cost $10 at WaLmArT. I attached the skateboard to a piece of cut plywood with strong metal ties, through holes drilled into the board and twisted up and around the wheels. The effect was wonderful and the birthday boy LOVED it! I will try to attach a pic... if that doesn't work, I have a pic of it posted in my gallery or maybe this link will work.
