How do I construct the bassinet cake??? I have never constructed a cake before?? How do I make the hood part stand on the cake and stay??? Thanks everyone

I made the hood out of gumpaste and let it dry on an upside down bowl to give me the right shape. To make the main body of the bassinet you carve the shape from a rectangle pan.

The other way to make the hood would be to make the shape out of clear plastic acetate and then lay the icing on top.
