I'm entering a cake in my first competition soon, and wondered about the board. Do all competitors cover their boards in fondant? What can I use to make the fondant stick? Do you cover the whole board, or just the top? Any help/tips (about competing in general) are greatly appreciated! icon_smile.gif

No, not all. It depends on the design you are making.
If you do you cover just the section outside the cake - not under it, and just the top. Then you cover/finish off the edge w/ribbon.

Totally agree icon_biggrin.gif To make the fondant stick to the board, you can dampen it slightly - most of the time I don't need to but better to be safe. I still add ribbon around the edge of my boards even if I cover it in fondant.

Best of luck,
