I heard from the Bride today! She was thrilled with the cake, but upset that she didn't get any of the chocolate layer. I said how lovely the setting was, but that I was surprised that it was so far from the house, how did they get the food to the site?

Turns out they have a lot of Jeeps. They kept the catering pans level on their laps wrapped in towels to prevent burns. Also, she said they hired some teenagers to ferry people up and down from the house. They not only decorated the Jeeps, she sat on one to get her garter off!

Apparently it was a swell party, and not a crumb of cake left! So, alls well that ends well!

wow - I'm glad they thought all that through so well, but it would have been nice if they would have let you know so YOU could be prepared!

Down in the south we'd call that a "redneck" receptionicon_smile.gif Somebody told me just yesterday, "different strokes for different folks." I'm glad it turned out okay for you and the wedding party.

I'm glad it went well, but like others, think they should have given you a head's up. Cake can be more sensitive than a pan of food that might drip over the side!

Oh good! I'm glad that it turned out ok. I was just nervous for you when you said that you left the cake there and there was nothing else there. And no one around. Not to mention all that you went through to get it there.

i guuueeesss that's good for the couple that everything turned out great, but very anti-climatic on this end. icon_wink.gif i'm just kidding.... sort of!

no, really. good for them. odd about not giving you a heads up, but at least it all worked out!! and i also think those teenage drivers may have had something to do with "the smell" icon_wink.gif

I wonder where all the teenagers with Jeeps were when you needed to get down there (then again I wouldn't let them drive with MY cake in te back).

I'm still curious about the port-o-potty situation. I guess we'll never know....
