I am making a cake for a 'Golden Birthday' and I am frosting in chocolate icing, is there anything I can do that would give it a gold shimmer or I have never 'painted' frosting, I wonder if you would even be able to see the gold?? Any help is appreciated. thank you!

It sounds like you are going to use choco buttercream, right?
If so about the only thing you can do is dust some gold Highlighter dust over it.
If you use Wilton's gold sparkle it will show up - barely- as a slight shimmer.

i have made chocolate clay roses in a class.. and we dusted super gold..very pretty. again the pme gold sheen spray should really highlight it.. or if you air brush.. the americolor gold spray would also highlight it..hth

Thanks for the quick replies ladies. I will get as much gold over the top that I can so it is noticeable at least! Thank you!
