I found a cake recipe that uses a box mix (white cake) add 1 cup flour and 1 cup sugar, flavorings ,oil and egg whites would it be better to use regular flour or cake flour? not sure of the difference?

Regular flour is just fine.

There are those who insist cake flour is better. I have always used all purpose.
Try my *original* WASC recipe. You can use all purpose and don't have to make a large amount of batter that other similar recipes call for.
