I am going to need to make tractor tires and figured it would be easiest to do it with RCT. Can I nuke store bought ones or is it easier to manipulate home made ones?

I've never used the store bought ones for cake purposes (only for happy belly purposes), but I would think they'd be too soft... I like to use less marshmallows and then really pack it into a pan or bowl to set. I find it's pretty easy to carve like that.

I use store bought Rice Krispie Treats, they have huge ones on the shelfs by the registers for like 80 cents. They work fine, I hate the mess I have when I make them myself. The cake with a softball glove in my pics was made with store bought rice krispies.

I use store bought and they have worked fine for me. They are not very dense but can be packed down pretty tight.
