My roommate is a local firefighter, and they are doing a competition fundraiser for St.Balrick's Foundation. All of the proceeds go to children with cancer. I don't have a ton of extra cash, but offered to donate a cake for the auction part of it, on behalf of my roommate...he's real lazy when it comes to raising money icon_surprised.gif
The thing is, the event starts at 1:30, so i would have to deliver at 1pm. And it won't be over until after 5:30-6:30. I know some wedding cakes are outside for long periods, but are they out THAT long? Can I use buttercream, or should I use fondant just in case? I'm in South Carolina, and it's not too hot here.

I have used Crisco/butter buttercreams w/o a problem but I was in a non humid area.....don't know what it will be like where you are.
Fondant may hold up better but again, since I have never had to deal w/your weather I can't say for sure.

look for indydebi's buttercream recipe on here - it's legendary for sitting in indiana humidity for hours in August, and not melting. (I would look for it, but my connection is really crappy right now. Maybe someone else can provide it quickly) icon_biggrin.gif
